TAI CHI Sun Style 73 Forms
Combining two of the most powerful internal arts with tai chi, Sun Lu-tang (1861-1932) created an uniquely powerful style of tai chi. This style places great emphasis on Qigong (exercise to cultivate vital life energy), making it especially effective for cultivating internal energy, which in turn greatly enhance healing and relaxation. The 73 Forms is characterized by agile steps with smooth and flowing movements, like water in a river.
Following an introduction to tai chi and of the benefits you will gain by learning the 73 Forms, Dr Lam will teach warm up exercises and the 73 Forms using simple and proven teaching methods. Your DVDs have been such a help. I began by taking lessons for Tai Chi for Arthritis under the Arthritis Foundation. Earl O'Bryan is our instructor in Schoharie County, NY. We have now progressed to the 73 steps, and I would like to go as far as I can (with a bit of adjustment for my age, 71). Those kicks might pose a slight problem! Your sweet, kind voice encourages me, while reminding me that there is "no hurry in Tai Chi". I suffered from benign postural vertigo for over 20 years due to left ear canal erosion. I have not had an episode of vertigo in almost 2 months. My balance has improved greatly. I have been practicing since Nov. 2013 and will go on as long as I can.

Because I learned the 73 Sun form from another teacher it's difficult to unlearn and learn simultaneously. Having said that, the teaching points are so precise and interesting that I spend an hour each workout without once looking at the clock.
I have two minor criticisms; since I want to be as correct as I can be I'm constantly repeating the various parts of each session and in going back and forth from the menu, the music is driving me nuts. Maybe each section needs a different song.
The other point is that Dr. Paul will finish a run through facing let's say, East, but in beginning a new section he'll start where he left off, but he'll be facing West. I have enough trouble with my right and my left!
If I lived in Sydney I'd get this in no time because I'd be in Dr. Paul's class. But Living in Texas I don't get to Sydney too often! Once I get through section 5 and 6 I believe I'll use my session time to follow Dr. Paul as he does the whole form himself.
All in all. A great investment and I'm glad I'm part of the group.

Wonderful step by step teaching with angles for perception of every move. Dr Lam's reputation precedes him so I am not surprised in the quality of this product. Anyone , regardless of level , would love this DVD.

Dr. Lam's DVDs are the best. Learning is broken down into bite size pieces and shown with great detail. These are the best instruction for the art I have found.

This DVD really promotes learning at home. Each movement is broken down, and you get to see it from front and back. At the end of each section (6-12 movements), there's a review so that you can see how the movements fit together. Dr. Lam presents the information really clearly and he (along with an assistant) model the movements and the form beautifully. The menu is easy to use.

I have been taking a class on the 73 form Sun Style Tai Chi and will have to miss a session this spring. I bought the DVDE in order to progress along with my class. I find that Dr. Lam's instructions are very precise and patient. I am confident that this DVD will bridge the gap created by the interruption of the class work.

I enjoy this dvd and learning the new forms. Instructions very clear. My only complaint is that there is so much information that I've only gotten thru 1/3 of the lessons. I'm a slow learner. I think I'll be using the dvd until 2014 and still not learned it all! I'm glad I studied Tai Chi for Arthritis part 1 and 2 before I attempted this one. Thank you for presenting this info; it helps me tremendously.

The lessons are clear and easy to follow. The DVD is very well produced. All of my students who bought the DVD agree that it is a great asset to use when learning a more difficult form.

These Tai Chi DVDs/Videos have really helped me in my Tai Chi journey. This has deepened my practice greatly! I feel much stronger and more energized with the Sun style. It's definitely a challenge, but well worth it! So glad I discovered this site.
